What we publish
You can explore products, discount codes and promotions alongside practical buying guides. Each listing shows the information available to us and any checks recorded. Some offers may have ended or still need checking; confirm the details with the retailer before relying on a saving.
DEX — The Deal Explorer
DEX is the Tailored Deals mascot, catalogue guide and evidence system. DEX labels show the checks actually recorded for a listing. Ask DEX searches supplied catalogue records. Main results can include unconfirmed offers and retained products awaiting checks. Passed supplied offer deadlines are filtered out. Help with the decision before the purchase
Our core buying guides, travel collection and student essentials section explain practical choices and link to relevant catalogue records. DEX's checklists help you work out what you already have, what you can borrow and what still needs arranging. The guides use AI-assisted research and drafting. Source references and consultation dates are shown where they are recorded. Read our editorial approach for the process and its limits.
What we do not claim
A listed promotion is not automatically the lowest price available, a product endorsement or a guarantee of stock. Shoppers should check the final price, delivery, returns, eligibility and terms on the retailer’s website before paying.

How the site is funded
Some retailer links are affiliate links. Tailored Deals may earn a commission when a visitor follows one and completes a qualifying purchase, without increasing the shopper’s price.
How Ask DEX finds and orders results
Ask DEX retrieves stored Tailored Deals catalogue records. These searches do not browse retailer websites in real time or generate new product facts.
Ranking, affiliate commission and search limits
Search uses recognised terms, country, currency and budget details. Responses use listing fields and fixed explanatory text.
- Main catalogue search: matching product names or promotion titles carry more weight than retailer matches, which carry more weight than other text fields. Product ties can use a headphone-name check, then update time and record ID; promotion ties use the recorded exclusive flag, date added and record ID. A search with no remaining search terms uses the catalogue’s default order.
- Find it with DEX: this narrower search first applies publication and catalogue eligibility checks, then combines text relevance with recorded quality and SEO scores, source freshness and indexability. Listed reductions also contribute for products; the recorded exclusive flag contributes for promotions. These internal scores are not independent product tests.
- Affiliate commission amounts are not inputs to either search’s ordering calculation. The catalogue includes affiliate-supplied records and does not cover every retailer or product. Passing a catalogue eligibility check does not guarantee a working offer.
The main search displays up to six products and six promotions. A recognised maximum budget limits listed product prices in the matching currency and omits promotions from that initial result set; the deals continuation link is not budget-filtered. Delivery and other charges are not included. Television searches add a name check to this limited set, so their displayed count is not a total for the full catalogue.
“Why this result” describes listing facts and search context, rather than a guarantee of suitability, the cheapest price or a complete explanation of the numerical ranking.
Using a shopping assistant
