Compare multipacks using the quantity you will use
A multipack can lower the price per item while increasing your total spend and storage needs.
Compare like-for-like units and your normal consumption. A larger pack is not a saving when part of it expires or cannot be used.

Choose a consistent unit
Compare weight, volume or item count as appropriate. Check whether individual items differ in size. A pack of smaller units may have more pieces but less total product than another offer.
Calculate the delivered unit price
Divide the total relevant cost by the usable quantity. Include delivery where it applies to the order. Keep any hypothetical future voucher separate so the comparison uses a price you can currently obtain.
Check storage and dates
Read storage instructions and date information where supplied. Check the cupboard or freezer space before ordering. For perishable goods, choose a quantity that fits your household routine rather than assuming a printed date will leave enough time.
Compare a smaller alternative
Calculate the smaller pack’s cost over the amount you expect to use. Account for carrying and handling. If the multipack does not solve a real need, keep the cash and storage space rather than treating a low unit price as a reason to buy.
Your next steps
- Write down the requirement that matters most for multipack before comparing listings.
- Confirm the exact item, total cost and delivery terms in the retailer basket.
