Compare flat-pack furniture by assembled size and access
A wardrobe that fits your bedroom can still fail to reach it. Compare the assembled footprint and the route from the delivery point before choosing flat-pack furniture.
Keep a tape measure and a sketch of the room beside the product listing. You need the packaging dimensions as well as the finished measurements, particularly when a staircase or narrow landing separates the front door from the room.

Measure the route with doors open
Record the narrowest doorway, landing turn and stair clearance. Include handles and banisters. A long carton may need turning space that a doorway width alone misses. Ask the retailer about carton dimensions and whether delivery ends at the building entrance or inside your room.
Leave working space around the furniture
Draw the furniture footprint on the floor with paper, keeping walkways clear. Allow for drawers to open and wardrobe doors to swing. Check skirting boards and sockets. A nominal wall width is not always usable width once the furniture sits against the actual surface.
Read the assembly instructions before ordering
Find the exact model instructions and check required tools, the number of people needed and any wall-restraint requirement. Follow the maker’s fixing guidance and ask a competent person about unsuitable walls. Do not omit a restraint because it was absent from the display photograph.
Compare delivery and missing-part support
Count every carton on arrival and keep the model and batch details. Inspect panels before assembly. Check how the retailer handles missing fittings and whether carrying, assembly or packaging removal costs extra. An inexpensive cabinet can become costly when the required delivery service is added.
