Make sure you can recover access to accounts and retrieve important files without relying solely on the tablet itself. Replacing a laptop is easier to judge when the difficult edge cases have a practical, acceptable answer.

Compare the complete system you would buy

Add the tablet, keyboard, pointer, stand, storage capacity and any required software to one comparison. Include accessories only where your trial demonstrated a need. Then compare that system with keeping the laptop or replacing it with a conventional computer. Consider setup time and the extra steps found during the trial alongside purchase cost.
