Plan a small painting job around surface condition, product instructions and careful protection of nearby areas.

Identify the surface and existing finish before choosing paint. Check the paint maker's preparation guidance and make sure the product is intended for that material and location. Unknown old coatings may need assessment before sanding or stripping.

Inspect before covering
