The 3D Memory Crystal™ Square for Dad from Beyond Memories® is the modern square edition of our signature Dad crystal - a precision-cut block of optical glass with razor-sharp 90-degree edges, engraved with your favorite photo of Dad (or you with Dad, or his grandchildren) in true three-dimensional detail. The square shape works on his desk, his workshop bench, the man-cave shelf, the mantel, or anywhere Dad spends time and might catch a glimpse of his people during the day. Your photo is sculpted into a true three-dimensional model and laser-engraved deep inside the K9 optical crystal using a precision 4K subsurface laser. The portrait lives inside the glass and is built by real artists at our studio in Henderson, Nevada - not algorithms. K9 optical crystal - lead-free, perfectly clear, hand-polished True 3D subsurface engraving - portrait sculpted in three dimensions inside the crystal 4K HD upgrade - available on every size for maximum facial detail Five sizes - Small through 2XL for any space Razor-sharp 90-degree edges - clean modern square geometry Free photo enhancement - we clean up the background and lighting before engraving Memory Light Base compatible - sold separately, eight LED colors Premium gift-ready presentation box - satin-lined, ready to hand to Dad U.S. studio + U.S. customer support - Henderson based Perfect for Father's Day, his birthday, and the quiet moments in between For Father's Day, the Square for Dad is the most-ordered Dad-specific square in our shop. The square shape is decidedly masculine without being aggressive - it sits well on a desk, a workshop bench, a mantel, or the bookcase Dad has been collecting paperback novels in since the eighties. For Dad's birthday (especially the milestone birthdays - 40, 50, 60, 70), the Square engraved with a photo of his kids or grandkids becomes the gift he photographs and texts to his friends. For the unexpected moments - the Christmas after a tough year, the gift after he retires, the day he becomes a grandfather - the square crystal feels like exactly the right scale: substantial but not heavy, modern but not minimalist, personal but not embarrassing. How the personalization works Pick the size that fits Dad's space (Small for his desk, Medium for his workshop, Large for the mantel or living room). Upload your favorite photo of Dad through our simple uploader. Our photo team removes the background, balances the lighting, and prepares the image for 3D conversion. We sculpt the photo in three dimensions and use a precision 4K subsurface laser to engrave the model inside the K9 crystal. Standard production is 1-2 business days. What photo of Dad works best The square shape is the most versatile in our lineup. A candid portrait of Dad - laughing at the grill, holding the grandkids, with the dog - engraves with emotional impact. A formal portrait works equally well. Multi-generation photos (Dad with his kids, or with his grandkids) work beautifully in Medium and Large sizes. Avoid photos with very busy backgrounds (we will clean them up anyway), extreme close-ups, and heavily filtered images. Send 2-3 options after ordering and our team will recommend the strongest engraving candidate. What's in the box Every Square for Dad ships in our satin-lined gift presentation box with a polishing cloth, a care card, and a Beyond Memories® certificate of authenticity. The presentation is designed for direct gifting - Dad opens the box and the crystal is cradled in soft satin against dark linen lining, ready to lift out and set on his desk. Crystal care K9 optical crystal is built to last for decades of Dad's desk shuffling, workshop projects, and "leave my stuff alone" moments. Display the crystal away from direct sunlight. Dust monthly with the included microfiber polishing cloth. For deeper cleaning, use a soft cloth with a small amount of glass cleaner sprayed onto the cloth (never directly onto the crystal). Avoid extreme heat or chemical contact. Production and shipping Standard production takes 1-2 business days. Faster shipping options are available at checkout. Frequently asked questions What's the difference between the Square for Dad and the Rectangle for Dad? The Square is the more modern aesthetic with cleaner geometry; the Rectangle is the more classical portrait orientation. The Square works with both single subjects and group photos; the Rectangle works best with a single subject framed tall. Can I engrave a photo of Dad with his grandkids? Yes - this is one of the most popular Square for Dad orders. Multi-generation portraits work beautifully in the Medium and Large sizes. What if the photo is older? Send it anyway. Our photo team can often restore older images. If we cannot get the photo to engraving quality, we will reach out before production. Do I need the Light Base? The crystal reads beautifully on its own. The Light Base (sold separately) illuminates the engraving from below in eight LED colors and is recommended for desk or low-light placements. Is this a good gift for a grandfather? Yes - with a photo of the grandchildren, this is one of our most-gifted grandfather orders. What if Dad doesn't love it? We have a 30-day satisfaction promise. If the engraving doesn't capture the moment the way you imagined, we will rework it at no cost or refund the order.
