The 3D Memory Crystal™ Arc - also called the crescent - is the curved shape in the Beyond Memories® collection. A smooth half-moon of K9 optical crystal with your photo engraved inside it. The arc's gentle curve catches light differently from every angle, giving the engraving a softer, more romantic glow than the angular shapes. It's the shape most often chosen for anniversary gifts, wedding mementos, and intimate portraits where the photo deserves a frame that feels as soft as the moment. Every arc starts with your image. Our design team in Henderson, Nevada reviews and enhances the photo for laser clarity. Our artists set the 3D engraving model. A 4K laser fires millions of microscopic points inside the crystal, building your photo one layer at a time from the inside out. The finished crystal is hand-polished, inspected, and packed in a gift-ready box. Real artists, not algorithms. 100% K9 optical crystal - lifetime clarity, scratch-resistant 4K laser engraving - millions of points etched inside the crystal Expert photo enhancement included with every order Available in three sizes: Small, Medium, Large Standard or 4K HD engraving - choose at checkout Compatible with the Memory Light Base™ (sold separately) for illuminated display Premium gift-ready box included at no extra charge U.S.-based support team - real humans, not a chatbot Ships via UPS, USPS, or FedEx - tracking included How the personalization works The arc engraving is built inside the crystal, not on its surface. After you upload a photo at checkout, our design team reviews it, then converts it into a 3D model that fits the curved geometry. The 4K laser leaves microscopic refractive points at exact depths inside the K9 glass, forming your image with lifelike volume. The arc's curve refracts ambient light around the engraving, lending the keepsake a quiet luminance even without a light base. What photo works best The arc favors portraits with one or two subjects - a couple, a parent and child, a single face you want to remember. A clear, well-lit photo in JPG or PNG format (ideally 2,000 px on the long edge or larger) gives the sharpest engraving. Plain backgrounds engrave with more depth than busy ones. For wide group shots, the rectangle portrait crystal gives more room. For the most traditional romantic shape, the heart crystal is the classic choice. Our design team reviews every upload and will reach out if your image needs adjustment. What's in the box Your arc ships in a premium gift-ready box - a navy presentation box with the Beyond Memories wordmark in gold, a soft microfiber pouch for cleaning, and a printed care card. The crystal is nested in custom-cut foam to survive transit. If you add a Memory Light Base at checkout, it ships in the same box with its USB-C power cable. Crystal care K9 optical crystal is scratch-resistant and water-safe. Wipe with the included microfiber cloth to remove fingerprints. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight, which can warm the glass. For deeper cleaning, a drop of dish soap in warm water and a thorough dry will not damage the engraving. The arc is built for any indoor surface - desk, shelf, nightstand, or mantel. Small, Medium, and Large. Exact dimensions are in the size selector. A single subject engraves well at any size; couples and close-ups are sharpest from Medium and up. What's the difference between the arc and the heart crystal? Both are romantic shapes. The arc is a smooth modern half-moon - a curved silhouette without the traditional dip-and-point of a heart. The arc is chosen by buyers who want the emotional weight of a heart in a more contemporary form. What's the difference between Standard and 4K HD engraving? Standard produces a sharp 3D image suitable for most photos. The 4K HD upgrade adds about 50% more dots - finer detail, smoother gradients, most noticeable on close-up viewing or with a light base. Both use the same K9 optical crystal. Can I add a name, date, or short message? Yes. Add your text in the Special Instructions field at checkout - no extra charge. Common additions include a name and date, song lyrics, or wedding vows. Does the arc need a light base? The arc's curve catches ambient light beautifully on its own. A Memory Light Base adds gentle illumination from below and is worth it for dim-room display or a soft nightlight effect. See our guide on whether you need a light base.
